Two Years of MineLife Media 🎂

Two years ago, I registered an LLC for what I thought would be a temporary side hustle while I figured out my next career move. Fast forward to today, and MineLife Media has evolved into something I never could have predicted – a thriving business that connects mining companies with authentic storytelling and strategic social media management.

To celebrate this milestone, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on this journey – the wins, the challenges, and the incredible community that's made it all possible. Check out the video below for the full story!

The Journey So Far

When I left my role as a mine geologist, I wasn't setting out to become an entrepreneur. I just knew I had a passion for sharing the stories written in rocks and helping bridge the gap between the mining industry and the public.

What started as a hobby has evolved into partnerships with 13 clients ranging from junior explorers to publicly traded companies, outreach organizations to state agencies.

Along the way, I've:

  • Been honored as one of Women in Mining UK's "100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining" for 2024

  • Received the 2025 Medal of Merit for Young Professionals from the Mining & Minerals Education Foundation

  • Spoken on panels at industry conferences and presented at the Essential Minerals Association

  • Launched The Rock Record on YouTube, growing to over 1,000 subscribers with adventures across 11 states and 3 countries

The Real Talk

Let's be honest – entrepreneurship isn't always Instagram-worthy.  There have been late nights, forgotten equipment (if you've found a jacket with rock stickers in the pocket at a conference, it's probably mine), and the constant challenge of proving the value of digital communication in an industry that's traditionally been more comfortable underground than online.

But for every challenge, there's been a moment that makes it all worthwhile – a client seeing meaningful engagement on their posts for the first time, a comment from someone who never knew mining could be so fascinating, or the relationships built with fellow industry communicators who are equally passionate about changing perceptions.

What's Next?

The honest answer? I'm not entirely sure.

Year 1 was survival mode. Year 2 was learning to run an actual business. For Year 3, I'm letting my clients' needs and my own curiosity be my guide!

What I do know is this: there are countless stories in the mining industry waiting to be told, and I'm just getting started.

Whether you've been following since day one or just discovering MineLife Media, thank you for being part of this journey. Here's to more rocks, more stories, and more adventures ahead! ⚒️
