Jess Scanlan Named "Emerging Leader of the Year" by Empowering Pumps & Industry Conference

I'm thrilled to share that I've been named the Emerging Leader of the Year by the Empowering Pumps & Industry Conference (EPIC)! This award was presented at the conference on November 6, 2025, and it means so much to me.

The Emerging Leader of the Year award recognizes a person with less than 10 years of experience in their industry who is emerging as a leader through excelling at projects and advocating for people in their field. Being honored in this way by EPIC and the Empowering Brands team is incredibly humbling.

A Long-Time Fan of Empowering Brands

I've been following Empowering Pumps since ~2020 and have always been a huge fan of what they do to elevate voices across industrial sectors.

In fact, I had the pleasure of joining Charli on the Empowering Industry Podcast to talk about my journey from underground geologist to social media marketer, and how I started creating content to share my passion for the mining industry with others.

Those conversations about bridging the gap between technical industries and the public are exactly what drew me to Empowering Brands in the first place!

2025: A Year of Recognition

This recognition comes alongside another incredible honor from Empowering Brands – I was also nominated for Marketer of the Year at the Empowering Women in Industry Conference!

Both of these recognitions reflect the work we're doing at MineLife Media to transform how industrial companies communicate with their communities and advocate for authentic, engaging storytelling that improves public perception.

The Power of Cross-Industry Collaboration

I attended EPIC for the first time in 2024, and it was such an inspiring experience. Getting to learn from experts in wastewater, manufacturing, construction, and other industries I don't typically work with directly was invaluable!

It gave me a chance to step outside my usual mining bubble and engage in important conversations about workforce challenges, technology adoption, and innovation that transcend any single industry.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend this year's conference due to prior commitments, but receiving this award reminds me of why events like EPIC matter so much. They bring together people who are passionate about industrial sectors that literally build and power our world, and they create space for us to learn from each other.
